International Exhibition of audio-video and home entertainment systems HDi SHOW-2009 run in Moscow

14-th International Exhibition of consumer audio-video and entertainment systems HDi SHOW-2009 run April 9-12 at IEC Crocus Expo. The Exhibition was featured innovative products of world-wide manufacturers and Russian distributors in the field of audio-video  technologies and home entertainment products: Hi-Fi, High End equipment, home cinema, LCD, screens and videoprojectors, Blu-ray and HD players, headphones, accessories, home cinema furniture, mounts and supports.

Among HDi SHOW-2009 participants are: Sony, Epson, Sennheiser, JVC, Verbatim, Funai, BBK, BenQ, MMS, En-Trade, Karma Digital, Digital Systems, Unibat, Homesound, T-ART, Stereopreavda, Gong-AV, Business Vector, Audiomania, Answer Group, Laser world, 3Q, Nintendo, Woerlein, Rus HD, Vityaz, Iberi, 3D Liga, DVTech, Divox, Craftmann, Radio 21, Metall Design, ElectricLight, Mart, ArtXGroup, Kromax, Armadecor, Conset Rus, Elicor, Gekco, Clipsal – Relcon S etc.

Across a wide range of events within the Exhibition, launched by the Organizers, there were ones for industry experts, others for end-consumers and people who look forward to HDi SHOW to get acquainted with the latest technologies and products, estimate innovative devices practically, learn experts’ consultations.

The key event was offered to industry experts April, 10 – Conference ”Russian consumer electronics market – current questions and development prospects”. Organizers: Exhibition Company MIDEXPO and Organizers: Exhibition Company MIDEXPO and Association of trading companies and manufacturers of consumer electronic and computer equipment RATEK.

The Conference raised general issues of the Russian consumer electronics market. Among the key events of the year which define further market directions were noted such activities as opening of Samsung factory in Russia; launch of the first network of mobile broadband access based on WiMax technology; official sales of iPhone, etc. As for negative features, there were noted such events as recognition of “parallel” import; absence of Trade law; customs transfer from Moscow to the Russian border. Array of difficulties make it rather complicated to import radio electronic means (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, babyphones, navigators etc) into the Russian Federation, that is why Russian customers receive novelties 6 months later than they appear on the world market. The Conference participants considered the changes dynamics of consumer preferences on the Russian electronics market. Mid-class customers in Russia appeared to belong to “Premium” class; they value the quality of goods and choose equipment, produced in Japan and Germany. The speakers concluded that today companies should reduce constant expenses and balance their credit relations with customers, concentrate on the business core, share information and never have a wait-and-see attitude. They should refer to inner optimization of business processes, gaining status “Agent of Influence” on the field through Mass media, planning reduction and management system adjustment to render and execute prompt decisions.

Russian audio-video market development trends

HDi SHOW-2009 participants offered their own opinions concerning upcoming trends of the Russian audio-video market. As explained by Gennagiy Kleymenov, Development Director in “Digital Systems” company, it’s difficult to do strategy forecasts which market segments will be unprofitable or, conversely, profit-making due to down economy. Anyway Mr. Kleymenov is sure that the low-end equipment will be best-selling, as far as the middle-class consumers will also prefer cheaper goods purchasing.  No fear High End sales will be cut seriously, as true music and sound connoisseurs always cleave to the tradition. Probably, accordingly to Gennagiy, time is tough for middle-class Hi-Fi and installation services. Upcoming trend is HD-products because its approach on the market is accompanied with active PR. Vladimir Dremin, President of “En-Trade”, supported him. Mr. Dremin confirmed that HD-products are mostly advanced on the market, as there is a tendency now to renew equipment stock to HD related goods (TV, DVD, camcorder etc). In the context of video-imaging, “En-Trade” Company recognize D-ILA (JVC) technology and light-emitting-diode (LCD) solutions for projectors and static screens as mostly perspective. Ms. Anna Durshlyakova, Marketing Manager of Homesound” Company, predicted development of not only low-end segment, but also middle-class Hi-Fi and installation services. “MMS” AV department Sales Director Pavel Kozlov noticed that products based on innovative technology will be in maximum demand. As for the sound, consumers will still pay attention to the audio quality, cost and brand awareness, as it always was before. Slawomir Dabrowski, Marketing Manager of “Funai Europe GmbH”,Poland Branch,is sure that LCD is going to be very popular today in Russia, thus “Funai” returns to the Russian market.

Today many companies reconsider their tasks and correct their business plans in accordance with new economic conditions. “Digital Systems” Company’s main task is to hold last year position and create a variety of products. It’s essential today to work with “hard cash”, reduce credit limits and keep strict financial control.

Vilgelm Palmer, General Director of “En-Trade”, is aimed to provide consumers with regular supply, offer the newest products, preserve its leadership and respect to competitors.

Pavel Kozlov, “MMS” AV department Sales Director, agreed that new economic conditions is a time to try hand at products and brands vary. Pavel proudly proclaimed that no one employee was fired out. “It means that Executive Board take care of employees, and, when things will straighten out, we will safe our qualified team”, - Pavel said.

Slawomir Dabrowski (“Funai”) told:«Our Company find Russian market business potential as very huge and one of the most important in this region, even in spite of the down economy. We offer well-recognized hi-tech products and the price is very attractive for ordinary people. We are planning to open representative office in Russia this year and start to sell”.

Ms. Durshlyakova (“Homesound”) informed that main success criterion today is focus on quick and high-quality aftersales service and individual attention to dealers. It’s necessary to forefeel customers’demands, provide dealers with the immediate relief, i.e. payment by installments, consulting or printing advertising materials.

Once again HDi SHOW participants made a point of the importance of such event like HDi SHOW. The Exhibition is the only one show that gathers all the novelties existing on the Russian audio-video market, enables to discuss development perspectives within a business program, make deals and new contracts, find partners.

Novelties

HDi SHOW-2009 has demonstrated not only the latest technologies and products for home, leisure and entertainment, but also up-to-date equipment that came to the market just before the Exhibition. This year HDi SHOW presented great variety of products and brands – from low-end up to High End class. 

To attention of the numerous guests Sony showed new series of TVs Sony Bravia. One of the best - ZX1, with thickness just 9,9 mm, diagonal 40 inches! ZX is the thinnest LCD in the world based on technology BRAVIA 1080 Wireless. Sony is the first company in the world manufacturing organic OLED TVs. At HDi SHOW there were presented prototype tvset with diagonal 21 inches. W5 series is the most eco-friendly, saving 50% energy consumption. Z series models stand out in best quality picture.  Due to Motion Flow function the TVs automatically place missed spots.

Sennheiser presented headphones new model - HD 238. Progressive sound system with neodymium magnets and light membranes creates really “live” sound. Metal tie and changeable earcups cushions ensure long term exploitation. Another item, headphones HD 800, is designed with a glance to innovative aerospace technologies: stainless steel projector, earcups cushions are made from Japanese composite material – microfiber.

Digital devices fans were surprised by MMS, whichannounced 4-continuous delivery digital entertainment multimedia centre Harman/kardon with DVD-video, DVD-audio playback and 250 Gb insert hard disc. Another novelty of MMC – compact and light sound systems Infinity PHI Series with woofer and twitter, neodymium magnets, spherical diffuser and 100Wt subwoofer. Brand new sound system JBL Control Now attracted great attention.

En-Trade demonstrated one of the top-model projectors - CineVERSUM Black Wing Three (D-ILA –projector). Resolution power is 1080p (LCD processor 1920x1080 3-LCOS), multimedia interface with high resolution and definition HDMI 1.3. Body frame, besides being shock resistant, absorbs heat and noise. Performance figures are comparable with real picture-theater. Sets of models of worldwide manufacturers Crestron, Cinematech, Tributaries were also presented at En-Trade booth.

Digital Systems’ number-one models were projectors JVC D-ILA, InFocus X10, mounts Chief/IC and screens Stewart. Home Cinema front-face projectors JVC D-ILA (definition Full HD DLA-HD750, DLA- HD 350) possess the highest resolution of the contrast range 50 000:1. Developed videoprocessor HQV Reon-VX guarantee excellent picture. 

Rus HD company showed brand new models of HD media-players DUNE – HD Center è HD Base. They are universal and cross-functional to reproduce Blu-Ray and many others current audio and video formats.

Newly Icon NuForce was a success at the booth of Homesound. The model represents integrated-circuit amplifier suitable as well for high-class computer systems as portable devices like   iPod, CD –player, PC. Using jitter-free USB technology and digital-to-analogue convertor it’s possible to modify computer audio signals to perfect analogue sound. Another item to be mentioned is headphones power assist Nuforce Icon Mobile with built USB digital-analog converter, which volumes phenomenally pure and balanced sound.

T-ART booth’s exposition mostly consisted of Swiss brand PIEGA sound systems, returned to the Russian market. Here were floor-standing (TC 30, TP 7, TS 5) and overhead (TP 3) sound systems PIEGA, subwoofer PS 1 and center channel TP 4. 3- band-pass PIEGA CL 90 X AB sound system was the highlight of the exposition, equipped with   Accustic Arts components (Germany):  CD-player PLAYER I MK-3 black, 2-channel amplifier AMP I (balanced) black and preamplifier PREAMP I MK-3 (balanced) black.

Gong-AV presented new products of Bluenote, Da Vinci, PurePower, DartZeel, EMT, Weiss, Thales. Goods of above mentioned brands are not the subject of changing trends, they just use unique solutions for the best sound.

Japanese company Funai introduced LCD with matted screen 32 inches LH7-D32BB. The model is equipped with built tuner DVB-T MPEG4, format 16:09, HD Ready, resolution WXGA (1366x768), brightness 450 êä/ì2 and contrast range 2500:1, based on technology Clear Pix Technology.

WestVision announced premium-class tvsets. Among interesting products were ultrathin water-proof ones for bath-rooms. Mirrorlike tvsets with unique design are very attractive and convenient for built into the walls installation.

Latest Projects

HDi SHOW it’s not only a place where you can find so many novelties and estimate all the best innovations existing in the world of audio-video, study the main key events and learn thing from the experts, but also feel refreshment of mind. Live music lovers could enjoy Jazz Festival WHEN THEY PLAY JAZZ. There was also thematic eponymous photo exposition of jazz leaders and their performances from photographers Pavel Korbut, Felix Soloviev. Classic jazz, swing, blues, bossa nova, latino, gypsies jazz, jazz modern, funk, soul styles amused Jazz Festival guests.  

“Product of the Year” Contest was held within HDi SHOW-2009. Since 2004 the prestigious Contest has become the guide for customers in photo, audio, video equipment, mobile and digital devices. This year it gained a new status thanks to RATEK Association and major trade networks and shops. The results of the vote were announced the 9th of April. All the products-winners were represented at photo exposition in the Hall of Pavilion 2 (IEC “Crocus Expo”), also on the Contest official website www.productgoda.ru. 29 winners were recognized at section “Audio-Video”. The products-winners will be marked with a special sign, an advertising wabbler, in the main trade networks, including “Media Markt”, “Mir”, “ION”, specialized shops “Audiomania”, “Kinopanorama” and internet-shops.

HDi SHOW is a part of the largest event of consumer electronics in Russia and CIS countries – TECHNOSHOW-2009, that includes such exhibitions as PHOTOFORUM (exhibition of consumer and professional photo and video) and MOBILE&DIGITAL SHOW (exhibition of mobile and digital devices).
